Me

 Meet Me:

Hello! My name is Gilberto Rivera. I am here to take you around town with me as I explore Baltimore and get a hold of all the cool stuff that comes with living in this city. But just before going into that, let me tell you a little bit about the workings and why I'm doing this. Originally from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, I have grown up in an environment full of vibrant culture, family, and of course a love for sports. Currently, I am a senior at Loyola University Maryland and a player on our NCAA Division I tennis team. While tennis is a huge part of my life, I am really the type of guy who loves any sport. Be it soccer, basketball, or an even laid-back sport like beach volleyball, anything that involves moving and a little competition, and I'm there!

Speaking of which, the beach-when I am not at the tennis court or studying-you usually find me near the ocean. In growing up in Puerto Rico, the beach has always been part of who I am: I love everything about the water, the sun, and the laid-back vibes that come with it.

Although Baltimore is not well-known for beaches, since Puerto Rico is a place for them, I've been enjoying learning about the way people here spend their time outside-from parks to the harbor area.

Probably a huge part of my life that people don't know is my love for cars. I come from a deeply racing-involved family, and I've been around cars since as far back as I can remember. My family is big into race cars, so whether it's fixing up engines or going to races, I'm always hands-on when it comes to cars. It's in my blood, and everything about it I love-from the adrenaline of a race to the details that go into maintaining a high-performance vehicle. If ever you want to talk cars, I'm your guy!

While I love to be active and around cars, family time is a close second where priorities are concerned. Since growing up, I've had a close-knit family, and family time gives me a moment for true bliss. Whether it's holidays, weekend barbecues, or just to take in a day at the track, family is what gives me my strength and keeps me happy.

Now, I guess you must be wondering why I've decided to blog about exploring Baltimore. I think this is just because I love new discoveries: be it from the hole-in-the-wall restaurant to that really cool museum to the event nobody knows is going on except from the locals-end. And now, with school bringing me to Baltimore, I realize that the city has much more to offer, and I'd like to share with you some of those experiences. In this blog, I will be taking you around Baltimore through my escapades and allowing you to see where I go and what makes each place special. So, whether you are new to Baltimore or have lived here all your life, I hope the inspiration in my blogs will spur on a desire to see this city with fresh eyes. There is just so much to do, see, and experience here, and I really can't wait to take you along with me on this journey. More adventures to share very soon; feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions on places I should check out. Thanks for reading and stay tuned as I begin to share with you my Baltimore explorations!
